What to Expect From Your First Facial

Whether you’ve been nervous to get a facial or you never found the opportunity to treat yourself to one, it’s never too late to give your face the pampering it deserves. Here are a few things to keep in mind before your first facial appointment.

There’s Nothing to Be Nervous About

Many people might be worried that they’ll feel claustrophobic or feel some pain or discomfort, but we’re here to tell you not to worry. For the most part, facial treatments are designed to feel relaxing, and a pre-appointment conversation with your aesthetician about any skin conditions or concerns you have will help us serve you better. Don’t be afraid to speak up!

Some Parts Can Feel Unpleasant

Not all aspects of your facial are completely relaxing. Most facials involve some form of extraction, wherein your aesthetician carefully removes blackheads from your pores. If you’ve ever tried to remove your own blackheads, then you know what to expect, however, our procedure is professional and better for your skin.

Avoid Sunlight

Sunscreen should be part of your everyday facial care routine. Sun damage can cause early signs of aging, such as wrinkles, sun spots, and sagging. Taking care of your skin before and after your facial is especially important because your skin will be more sensitive than normal. We won’t judge you for walking out wearing a hat and sunglasses!

You Might Break Out

You may experience redness or breakouts after your facial, but this is normal. If this is your first ever facial, the aesthetician will be removing many layers of makeup, dirt, oil, and even bacteria from your pores, which will leave your skin feeling more sensitive than normal. We don’t recommend getting your facial on the day of a very important event, as your skin may not look its best just yet.

You Need to Take Care of Your Skin After

Just as you would take care of your teeth after a dentist appointment, you should expect to carry out some important at-home skin-care routines after your facial (if you don’t already). This will help the results last longer. A healthy skincare routine includes removing your makeup before bed, exfoliating at least once a week, and applying sunscreen and moisturizer.
